As I've said in the past, there's a difference between ignorance & malice. Before we start, let me preface my write-up with one thing: I do not think that Masahiro Sakurai is racist. But this topic has been boiling to the surface of my mind for the last month as I was writing the Celebration of Black Characters in Games thread last month, hence why I made the thread you're reading now. But that's a discussion for another time, one that I may circle back around to at a later date. not doing nearly enough to fix Pyra's design (Mythra's design is actually tolerable now). Min Min is great (more on her later), but Pyra/Mythra are basically the poster girls for objectification in modern Nintendo games (& that's coming from someone who enjoyed Xenoblade 2), with Sakurai & Co. Of the three, only the first one has been addressed in some capacity, though the success of their attempts to rectify the problem are up for debate. But the game has three glaring problems that I've been very vocal about: Lack of Women, Lack of Melanin, & Terrible Netcode. From its massive roster to the plethora of stages to the great music, there's a lot to love about Smash Ultimate. And while I still stand by the opinion that Melee is the best entry in the series, Ultimate is very easily a close 2nd for me. I've been playing it since its inception on the Nintendo 64. series to pieces (fighting game, party game, whatever you want to call Smash). But at the end of the day, I made this thread because I love Smash & want to see it (as well as Sakurai & the other parties involved) do better.Īs many of you know already, I'm a huge fighting game fan who loves the Super Smash Bros. This thread actually went through days of writing, editing, & additions because of me wanting to make sure I say everything that I want to say in the best way possible. Not just because I have to tear into a series I otherwise love, but because I wanted to get across all of my grievances regarding Smash's anti-Blackness in one thread. Honestly, this was one of the hardest threads I've ever written (up there with the Black History Month thread). Ambiguously dark-skinned characters like Elma & Steve (the latter of whom is already in Smash), while appreciated in the grand scheme of things, aren't relevant to this topic. Likewise, this thread is mainly discussing characters who are primarily & inarguably Black. It's mainly a necessary step forward towards addressing said problems. One Black character getting on the roster doesn't magically erase the other problems. In the 1-in-14,000,605 chance that a Black character gets in the next Smash game, that still leaves the issue of the other topics discussed in this thread. 2's 5th character, with the reveal of the 6th & final character (which ended up being Sora) being a little over a week away at the time of said update. It was later updated with the section at the very bottom long after the reveal of Kazuya Mishima, Fighters Pass Vol. 2 would be the end of the road for Super Smash Bros. 2 not yet revealed & us being under the impression that Fighters Pass Vol. AUTHOR'S NOTE : This thread was initially written not long after the release of Pyra/Mythra, with the 5th character of Fighters Pass Vol. They could then slide the latch to release the door, which could then be opened by pressing it on one end. They entered it into the rolling display on the lock box. Agents had to learn how to open a lock box combination, which they obtained from the listing company. The next major advance in lock boxes was combination locks, which entered common use during the 1980s. However, the loss or theft of a single key would render all of the agent’s properties unsecured. In the case of multiple lock boxes with the same lock, agents could learn how to open a lock box with one key. Lock boxes with a unique lock required the agent to obtain the key for that lock before they could show the house. Lock boxes from the 1970s were opened with a key, which had several disadvantages. “An obviously placed lockbox enables self check-in when your guests arrive and you can’t be present to hand them the keys to your property.” Keyed Lock Boxes The property management Toronto group Buttonwood also states that lockboxes are great for investment properties that landlords want to rent out on Airbnb or similar sites during void periods. These locations allow the front door to be opened easily, while keeping the lock box out of sight. Some agents prefer to place the lock box in another location such as the backdoor, gate or garage door. The biggest disadvantage of placing a lock box on the front doorknob is that it makes it difficult to open and close the door. It also makes how to unlock realtor lock box easier for agents. This location also eliminates the need for the agent to search for the lock box. The biggest advantage of installing a lock box on the front doorknob is that it keeps the lock box in plain sight, where the agent can’t avoid seeing it. The listing agent maintains the keys to the shackle, preventing the lock box from being stolen. The lock box has a shackle that locks it to the doorknob or similar object. Lock boxes are typically installed around the front doorknob of the house. How to unlock realtor lock box varies depending on the company that made it. The latest lock boxes are made by manufacturers like Supra and SentriLock, which have distinctly different design philosophies. The ready availability of mobile devices with internet connectivity has also given today’s lock boxes additional capabilities besides controlling access to a property. These include simple keyed and combination lock boxes in addition to more advanced technologies such as key cards and infrared signals. Several types of lock boxes currently exist, which use a range of technologies due to the length of time lock boxes have been in use. Understanding how to open a lock box is important for all real estate agents. It also eliminates the need for someone to bring the keys to the property, which would require the agent to make an appointment before showing the property. This arrangement allows agents to show the house without first going to the listing agent’s office or some other location to pick up the keys. Realtors routinely use lock boxes to securely store the keys to a house on the premises. The Verifone vx520 offers quick connections in a variety of ways, including Ethernet or dialup. The Bards’ plays have been adapted to the big screen by numerous directors over the years, creating a whole Shakespeare movie genre.Shakespeare movie adaptations are big business at last count, over 420 feature-length Shakespeare movies versions of Shakespeare’s plays have been filmed. But the costume designer had done this movie called 'Orlando,' where a woman dressed as a man, and they had fashioned a sort of heavy beanbag to put in her tights, you know. And, let's face it, I'm always going to look like a girl. "And I really needed some kind of hook to physical-ize a boy, 'cause otherwise you just put on boys' clothes and a boy's wig and you're a girl. It is a sweet movie set in a romanticized period in history. "I think men and women, their physicality, obviously, is completely different," she said. The main attributes of the film, Shakespeare In Love, correspond directly with the photographic style of the movie. Prior to the interview, Lauer learned that Paltrow's prep to play Romeo involved lowering her center of gravity, which involved having the crew "stuff something in your tights." Added Lauer, "That's as far as the notes went, by the way, and I figured, 'You know? I'll ask her about that.'" Ring as true as that of Shakespeare's own work - while Fiennes has never been better, Paltrow frequently seems out of her depth - but this is a great success, bawdy, silly, handsome, brainy and energetic, which says more about that bloke from Stratford than any smarty-pants lecturer could hope for.RELATED: Chris Martin on Gwyneth Paltrow: 'I have a very wonderful separation-divorce' More subtle still is a parody of Hollywood's many lunacies with pompous actors grabbing bogus percentages, an endless list of credits topping the flyers for the play, even a Thames boat-cabby who fancies himself as a writer.īut Shakespeare In Love's clever-cleverness doesn't alienate the lavish production, superlative array of supporting characters (in-joke Ben Affleck does a fabulous 16th century luvvie) and triumphant final third make it, surprisingly, the crowd-pleaser of the season. The aspiring playwright Will Shakespeare finds himself at a loss for words with his latest endeavor, Romeo and Ethel. There are various themes - sexual liberation, feminism, artistic freedom, the nobility of acting and the power of theatre - plus two duels, some arty sex, cross-dressing, and a genuine sense of Elizabethan life without endless schlopping about in mud and starving peasants. There's even an attempt to resolve Marlowe's mysterious murder. The jocular script, imprinted with Stoppard's familiar gamesmanship, is a fabulous thing and under the assured care of Madden's direction grants the movie a delightful literary playfulness Shakespeare and Viola's burgeoning romance deliberately reflecting that of Romeo and Juliet growing inside the head of the love-struck writer numerous references to Shakespeare's other plays (try, at least, Two Gentlemen Of Verona, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, The Tempest and Titus Andronicus) dotting the action the presence of Gothic playwright John Webster as a gore-hungry street urchin. And the company of actors - shaped from the familiar mugs of British moviedom and members of The Fast Show - strain to pull the play into shape with all the spirited bluster of a show-must-go-on 40s-era Hollywood number. Rival theatre companies vie for Shakespeare's unfinished play, while he vies with arch-rival playwright Christopher Marlowe (an underused Rupert Everett). Stuck-up buffoon Lord Wessex (Colin Firth) buys Viola's hand in marriage. This is, after all, Shakespeare.Ĭircling this problematical love story spin a catalogue of subplots. Naturally, the path to true-love will be fraught with mishap, social dudgeon and bad timing. Amid a hasty and rather uneven first half-hour, a curious courtship begins between theatre-loving noblewoman Viola Le Dessaps (Paltrow) and the smitten Bard. In 1590, as the world of theatre struggles to gain respect, an egocentric Will Shakespeare (Fiennes) hits the plague of writer's block, unable to realise his latest comedy Romeo And Ethel The Pirate's Daughter (you can see where we're coming from) without a new romantic muse. As their relationship progresses, Shakespeares comedy soon transforms into tragedy. When a lovely noblewoman auditions for a role, they fall into forbidden love - and his play finds a new life (and title). This is postmodernism without the ponce, period drama without the pomposity. Young Shakespeare is forced to stage his latest comedy, 'Romeo and Ethel, the Pirates Daughter,' before its even written. Art imitates life, life imitates art, life takes art outside for a good kicking and art gives as good as he gets. Brown tinkers with history, art and the love-life of Britain's most celebrated playwright to delicious effect. The earliest functional AR systems that provided immersive mixed reality experiences for users were invented in the early 1990s, starting with the Virtual Fixtures system developed at the U.S. The primary value of augmented reality is the manner in which components of the digital world blend into a person's perception of the real world, not as a simple display of data, but through the integration of immersive sensations, which are perceived as natural parts of an environment. Augmented reality is related to two largely synonymous terms: mixed reality and computer-mediated reality. In this way, augmented reality alters one's ongoing perception of a real-world environment, whereas virtual reality completely replaces the user's real-world environment with a simulated one. This experience is seamlessly interwoven with the physical world such that it is perceived as an immersive aspect of the real environment. additive to the natural environment), or destructive (i.e. The overlaid sensory information can be constructive (i.e. AR can be defined as a system that incorporates three basic features: a combination of real and virtual worlds, real-time interaction, and accurate 3D registration of virtual and real objects.
